100% Hand-loomed Wild Silk
24in x 74in
THE PROCESS
The weaving of wild silk is a Malagasy tradition passed down from generations. Locals pick abandoned cocoons in nearby forest areas, unravel, wash and spin silk yarn from the yield. The result is a special yarn unlike any other, with a thick & thin "slub" texture that is specific to wild silk. The yarn is then dyed with local leaves, roots, barks and berries, then finally woven on small hand-built wooden looms by craftsmen/craftswomen.
THE COLOR
CHARTREUSE is a blend of plant colorants extracted from sweet potato leaf and turmeric root.
