THE PROCESS

Luxurious Silk Charmeuse is individually hand-dyed with Oak Gall (quercus infectoria) to create our lavender gray color Taro. Oak Gall is small growth on certain Oak trees created when wasps burrow into the branches secreting a hormone that reacts with the wood to create a liquid inside once referred to as "Iron Gall Ink". It was this substance that was the first writing ink, the Magna Carta being first penned in Oak Gall Ink.
